The Compass set

This bundle pairs the MOON 491 network player and preamplifier with the MOON 461 power amplifier. It is the most complete configuration of the Compass Collection. Both units come here in a black finish.

Network player and its large colour display

The 491 in control

The 491 brings together MiND 2 network playback, MDE-2 digital-to-analogue conversion and a phono stage taking moving-magnet as well as moving-coil cartridges. Six digital inputs and an HDMI ARC input sit alongside three analogue inputs. Its total harmonic distortion plus noise falls to 0.0004 %.

The 461 for power

The 461 delivers 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms. A selector on the rear panel switches it to bridged mono, at 450 watts, or to bi-amplification. Two MOON Hybrid Power supplies equip it, one per channel.

Link and finish

The MOONLink connection ties the two units together and synchronises their standby. The bead-blasted aluminium cheeks give the set its visual coherence. The CRM-4 remote drives the system, and the BRM-1 remains compatible.
