100 watts of power

The NAP 250 delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 Ω, measured at 0.1% THD+N. The output stage works in class A/B; at two thirds of rated power and 1 kHz, distortion falls to 0.013%. The damping factor reaches 36 into 8 Ω and crosstalk between channels stays at 60 dB.

DR power supply regulation

The power supply relies on Naim's own DR regulation, which holds the voltage fed to the output stages. The NA009 power transistors are taken from the Statement. An eddy current divide completes the design.

Balanced XLR inputs

Two balanced XLR inputs present an impedance of 47 kΩ, and a single-ended connection at 34 kΩ remains possible through an adaptor lead. Input clipping occurs at 1 VRMS. Two XLR-XLR leads and an optical automation cable come with the unit, along with the Power-Line Lite mains cable.

Aluminium chassis and cooling

The casing is made from thick aluminium plates, a choice Naim makes to shield the electronics from magnetic fields, temperature swings and vibration. The heatsink keeps temperatures in check at high listening levels. The unit measures 43.2 × 31.75 × 9.15 cm and weighs 16.8 kg. In operation it draws 26 W, falling below 0.5 W in standby.
