DALI PHANTOM in-wall speakers in a reception space

Closed Box

The S-80 is the only one of the three S models working as a closed box, with no passive radiator. Bass reaches down to 59 Hz at plus or minus 3 dB, which calls for a subwoofer in home cinema but is enough for ambience or side channels. A closed box rolls off gently, so the handover to a subwoofer leaves no hole.

Eight-Inch Woofer

The 8-inch wood fibre cone is the same as the S-180's, in a shorter cabinet: 657 x 412 mm for 108 mm of depth. Sensitivity is 88 dB at 6 ohms and power handling runs from 40 to 200 W.

Rotatable Tweeter Module

The 28 mm soft dome and the 17 x 45 mm ribbon share the top of the spectrum, crossing at 2800 and 15000 Hz. The module turns to aim at the listening area, which matters when the speaker sits high in a wall.

Installation

Cut-out of 615 x 370 mm, mounting depth of 103 mm, wall thickness from 10 to 70 mm. The speaker weighs 14 kg with its grille. The PHANTOM OW FRAME S-80 allows surface mounting where the wall cannot be opened.
