The Altitude16 outputs on 16 balanced XLR sockets. The free +4 software option combines the analogue and S/PDIF outputs to reach 20 discrete channels. An immersive format such as 9.4.6 therefore fits in a single 3U chassis.
Dolby Atmos is decoded natively, with upmixing, up to 20 discrete channels, and DTS:X Pro reaches the same count. Auro-3D and its Auromatic upmixer go up to 13.1. Every speaker layout is supported, and the unit is IMAX Enhanced certified.
Under the cover, the Altitude16 uses the same architecture as the Altitude32. Audio is processed natively at 24-bit / 96 kHz in 64-bit floating point, and the 24-bit / 192 kHz D/A converters achieve an A-weighted signal-to-noise ratio of 115 dB. Audio and processing each have their own power supply, and an anti-pop relay protects every output.
Eight HDMI 2.1 inputs and two outputs with HDCP 2.3 handle 40 Gbps on every socket. Video passes through at up to 4K 120 Hz or 8K 60 Hz, with HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. eARC on output 1 brings back the television's sound, and the main information is shown on screen.
