The C 658 has BluOS built in: Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer and the music libraries on your network open from the BluOS Controller app on Android or iOS. FLAC, WAV, AIFF and MQA files play at up to 32-bit/192 kHz, and the unit joins a BluOS multi-room system. Bluetooth aptX HD works both ways, receiving music from a phone or sending it to another Bluetooth device.
An MM phono input takes the turntable, alongside two RCA line inputs, two coaxial and two optical inputs. On the output side, the C 658 offers balanced XLR and single-ended outputs to a power amplifier, plus a subwoofer output whose digital crossover is set with bass management. Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi, trigger and IR connections make it easy to fit into an existing installation.
Whatever the input, the signal stays in the digital domain up to the conversion stage, and the volume is also adjusted digitally. On the line input, this low-noise path is specified at a signal-to-noise ratio above 106 dB and distortion below 0.005 %. Two MDC slots allow an HDMI or USB-DSD module to be added later.
The Dirac Live Limited Bandwidth licence and calibration microphone are included, so the measurement corrects the room response up to 500 Hz. Dirac works on both timing and frequency to reduce room-induced resonances and tighten the stereo image. The licence can be upgraded to Dirac Live Full Frequency, and Dirac Live Bass Control is available as an option to optimise a subwoofer.
