Discrete balanced circuitry

The main signal path is fully discrete and balanced. Total harmonic distortion plus noise stays typically at 0.001% at 1 kHz, for 2 V unbalanced or 4 V balanced at 0 dB gain. Frequency response extends from 8 Hz to 28 kHz at the -0.5 dB points on a balanced connection.

S/PDIF and USB converter

The converter accepts S/PDIF on coaxial as well as optical, in 16 to 24 bits up to 192 kHz. The asynchronous USB input is galvanically isolated and goes up to 32 bits, in PCM or in DSD64 over DoP. Its total harmonic distortion plus noise sits typically at 0.0045% at 1 kHz.

Discrete headphone amplifier

The stage dedicated to headphones also adopts a discrete design. It delivers 9 V and 2.5 W into 33 Ω, or 10.85 V and 0.5 W into 240 Ω, at 0.1% distortion. Its total harmonic distortion plus noise falls typically to 0.0035% at 1 kHz.

IPS screen and Orbit remote

A colour IPS screen shows the state of the unit. The Orbit remote control, specific and backlit, drives its functions. Standby comes on automatically after twenty minutes without signal and brings consumption down to 0.4 W, against 50 W in service. The chassis measures 435 × 97 × 380 mm for 14 kg.
