On the MCA 525 Gen 2, ALM tracks the unit's internal temperature, current and voltage. It acts only in extreme conditions, to protect the amplifier and the speakers, and it removes internal fuses from the signal path. If a fault occurs, the unaffected channels stay active and operation on all five channels resumes by itself once conditions return to normal. A front-panel LED shows the status.
The MCA 525 Gen 2 shares two large power supplies across its five channels. Any channel, or all of them at once, gets instant bursts of power without affecting channel separation. The transformers are low-flux toroidal types, for very quiet operation. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 120 dB (IEC-A, ref. 225 W).
The rear panel brings together the single-ended and balanced inputs, the speaker binding posts and the relay trigger on a 3.5 mm mono jack. The input impedance is 10 kΩ on RCA and 15 kΩ on XLR. Three switch-on modes are offered: manual, trigger or signal sensing. Standby consumption is 2.0 W.
The MCA 525 Gen 2 complements the AVM 70 and AVM 90 A/V processors, whose styling it shares, for configurations of up to 15.4 channels with ARC Genesis. It delivers 225 W per channel into 8 Ω, 400 W into 4 Ω and 600 W into 2 Ω. Each channel relies on 8 bipolar output transistors. The unit measures 43.18 × 46 × 16.9 cm (W × D × H with feet) and weighs 27.5 kg.
