Each speaker houses a 20 mm silk dome tweeter and an 85 mm NS+ woofer with a treated natural fibre cone. The 2.0-litre cabinet is a bass reflex design with a double flare, tuned to 68 Hz, with a crossover at 2.5 kHz between the two drivers. The typical in-room response runs from 48 Hz to 22 kHz.
The Class D amplifier delivers 2 × 25 W rated output, with technology adapted from the R410. An adaptive equaliser and soft-clipping overload protection complete the chain. A mono RCA output connects a subwoofer. Power consumption stays at 0.5 W in standby and 7 W in typical use, with automatic standby and wake-up.
The MR1 Mk3 include an MM phono stage on an RCA input. The gain is adjustable from 2 to 7 mV, and the level of each input (line, phono, USB, optical) is set separately. A turntable with an MM cartridge therefore connects without an external phono preamp.
Bluetooth 5.1 supports aptX HD, AAC and SBC. The USB-C port accepts audio up to 24 bit / 96 kHz (UAC 1.0), and the combined 3.5 mm jack / mini Toslink input plays PCM up to 24 bit / 192 kHz. A compact IR remote control and a 3 m speaker cable are included in the box.
