Blue FiiO CP13 on a table in front of a wooden cabinet

Pocket-sized player

The CP13 plays type I to IV cassettes, with no recording function and no auto-reverse. Its two-tone aluminium alloy case measures 120 x 88.3 x 31.8 mm and weighs about 310 g. It slips into a bag or a jacket pocket.

Listening with headphones, player held in both hands

13 hours of battery life

A 1800 mAh lithium battery powers the player for more than 13 hours on the 3.5 mm headphone output, and standby exceeds 268 days. Charging goes through the USB-C port and takes about 3 hours with a 5 V/2 A adapter. Listening remains possible while charging.

Player mechanism with flywheel and gears

Copper flywheel mechanism

The pure copper flywheel measures 30.4 mm in diameter and 4 mm in thickness. A motor supplied with 4.2 V, combined with a speed stabilisation circuit, keeps jitter at 0.2% at most. The thickened permalloy magnetic head is selected to reduce the difference between the left and right channels.

Knurled aluminium volume wheel and blue side of the case

Fully analogue circuit

From the playback head signal to the headphone output, the chain uses only analogue components, including the JRC5532 operational amplifier. The volume wheel drives a large analogue potentiometer. The Play, rewind, fast-forward and pause keys receive a hard anodising treatment.
