Dual CS 718Q turntable in walnut veneer, three-quarter view

Seventh-series heritage

The 7 series shaped a chapter of hi-fi history, and the CS 718Q carries its principles forward. Its MDF plinth rests on four 68 mm elastomer feet, adjustable in height and fitted with resonance absorbers. The chassis comes in satin black lacquer or real walnut veneer.

Aluminium-carbon tonearm and azimuth-adjustable headshell

Aluminium-carbon tonearm

The armtube combines aluminium and carbon in a sandwich construction, with an effective length of 221.5 mm, 19 mm of overhang and a 25.6° offset angle. Height is set through a rotary mechanism over a +5 to -2 mm range, and the milled headshell detaches so azimuth can be adjusted. Tracking force is massless, held by a torsion spring, adjustable from 0 to 3 g for cartridges weighing 3 to 13 g.

Platter and direct drive

The direct-drive motor runs on ironless coils, double-shielded against stray magnetic fields. Quartz regulation holds 33, 45 and 78 rpm with wow and flutter below ±0.05 % DIN weighted. The die-cast aluminium platter measures 305 mm and weighs 2200 g with its mat, its underside carrying a full rubber coating.

Satin black finish, dust cover closed

Connections and finishes

The rear panel offers one RCA output and one XLR output, both intended for a phono input; no cartridge is fitted at the factory. Automatic arm lift and a defeatable end-of-record stop accompany manual operation. With the dust cover closed the unit measures 435 x 367 x 155 mm and weighs 10 kg.
