The TD 402 DD spins the platter on a DC motor coupled straight to the spindle, with no belt. The motor sets the speed electronically at 33 and 45 rpm and starts the record on its own. The damped aluminium platter absorbs resonances. At the end of the side, the auto shut-off stops the platter and lifts the arm.

The carbon-tube tonearm carries an Audio-Technica AT VM95E, factory-mounted and aligned, with an elliptical stylus. Its headshell detaches for a later cartridge change. Anti-skating sharpens the way it tracks the groove. The deck arrives ready to play.

A built-in MM phono stage switches on or off. On a line input, the TD 402 DD connects to an amplifier or active speakers with no phono input. The switch turns it off when the downstream electronics carry their own phono stage.

The TD 402 DD ships with a 24 V external power supply, acrylic dust cover and RCA cable. The chassis measures 420 x 355 x 141 mm at 5.8 kg. It comes in gloss black and gloss walnut, with an aluminium top board.
