Moving coil phono stage

The SuperLine is a phono preamplifier dedicated to moving coil (MC) cartridges. It is built into Naim's reference aluminium case, closed by a bead-blasted black anodised front panel. The circuitry sits on a suspension system taken from Naim's 500 Series.

Adjustable cartridge loading

Two 5-pin DIN sockets take loading plugs that match the stage to the cartridge, with 20 possible combinations. The published values range from 10 kΩ to 100 Ω in resistance and from 100 pF to 10 nF in capacitance. Gain reaches 64 dB at 1 kHz, 58 dB on the SuperLine E version, and the RIAA curve is held to ±0.1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Inputs and power supply

The turntable connects to RCA or BNC inputs. The SuperLine runs from an external 24 V supply: NaimUniti 2, NAIT XS 2 or XS 3, SUPERNAIT 2 or 3, Hi-Cap DR, a Naim preamplifier other than the NAC-N 172 XS, or the FlatCap XS, HiCap and SuperCap power supplies. The case measures 207 × 314 × 87 mm and weighs 7.7 kg.
