Described by Pro-Ject as the first of its kind, the Pick it PRO Balanced is a revised Pick it PRO that allows True Balanced signal transmission. A balanced connection removes noise and interference picked up along the way. The cartridge keeps the moving magnet principle and a 4 mV output at 1 kHz.
Pro-Ject's True Balanced cable range connects the turntable to a Phono Box S3 B or Phono Box DS3 B preamplifier. Pro-Ject recommends a 47 kΩ load and 150 to 300 pF capacitance. Recommended tracking force is 2.0 g within a 1.8 to 2.2 g range.
The elliptical stylus with an r/R 8/18 µm tip radius offers a tracking ability of 70 µm at 315 Hz. Response spans 20 to 20,000 Hz within ±2 dB, with 22 dB channel separation at 1 kHz. Compliance is 12 µm/mN.
Pro-Ject developed its Pick it cartridges with Ortofon, for manufacturing in Europe. The Pick it PRO Balanced uses the 1/2-inch mounting standard, with threaded holes that do away with nuts. It weighs 7.2 g, with 18 mm between stylus tip and mounting surface.
