The Pick it MC9 heads Pro-Ject's moving coil cartridge range, designed to match its tonearms. It reproduces music with high accuracy, a detailed soundstage, strong dynamics and rhythm. Pro-Ject optimised it for highly dynamic music such as jazz and classical.
A Special Elliptical stylus with a 5 x 150 µm tip radius captures every detail of the groove. The cryogenically treated cantilever realigns its crystal structure for smoother signal transmission. The Telar 57 pure iron cross coil, wound with 6N linear crystal copper, delivers 0.35 mV with 35 dB channel separation.
The black anodised aluminium body ensures rigidity and longevity, measuring 17 x 12.5 x 21 mm and weighing 9.6 g. The 1/2-inch standard and threaded holes allow top mounting, and the clear stylus guard slides on from below. Japanese parts, assembly and quality control in Europe, with screws and hex key supplied.
Recommended tracking force is 1.8 g within a 1.6 to 1.9 g range, with 17.5 mm between stylus tip and mounting surface. The recommended load lies between 100 and 470 Ω, and response spans 20 to 20,000 Hz within ±1 dB. The cartridge reaches full performance after 30 hours of break-in.
