The Pick it MC3 opens Pro-Ject's new range of moving coil cartridges, designed to match its tonearms technically. It is an all-round cartridge with a powerful, dynamic sound, suited to pop and rock as well as large symphonic works. Frequency response spans 20 to 20,000 Hz within ±1 dB, with 30 dB channel separation at 1 kHz.
A Pro-Ject-specific Hyper-Spherical stylus with a 5 x 250 µm tip radius reads the finest detail in the groove. The cantilever undergoes a cryogenic treatment that realigns its crystal structure for smoother signal transmission. The ARMCO pure iron cross coil, wound with 6N linear crystal copper, delivers 0.4 mV.
The body is made entirely of aluminium and anodised in steel blue for a rigid, carefully finished construction. The 1/2-inch mounting standard and threaded holes allow top mounting without nuts. The clear stylus guard slides on from below, and the screws and hex key are supplied in the box.
Recommended tracking force is 2.0 g within a 1.8 to 2.2 g range, with 17.5 mm between stylus tip and mounting surface. It connects to an MC phono input loaded between 100 and 220 Ω and reaches full performance after 30 hours of break-in. Pro-Ject suggests a Measure it gauge and an Align it protractor for precise adjustment.
