The SH puts out 2 mV at 1 kHz with a 130 ohm coil. It connects straight to the MM phono input of an integrated amplifier, loaded at 47 kilohms, with no step-up transformer and no MC phono stage. Tracking force is set at 2 grams, for a trackability of 70 micrometres.
The nude Shibata diamond, mounted on an aluminium cantilever, sets the S series apart from the elliptical E series. Its profile extends playback to 32 kHz and raises channel separation to 28 dB at 1 kHz. The 5 gram black body houses a cross-armature generator.
