The NS-800A reaches down to 40 Hz and up to 65 kHz at -10 dB. The crossover between the two ways sits at 2.6 kHz. Nominal impedance of 6 ohms drops to 3.8 ohms at minimum, which calls for a stable amplifier.
The cabinet measures 23.1 cm wide, 42.0 cm high and 35.8 cm deep. Each speaker weighs 13.0 kg, which rules out a flimsy shelf. Power handling runs from 40 W nominal to 120 W maximum.
The bass driver measures 16 cm across, against 13 cm on the NS-600A. The 3 cm dome tweeter is shared by both models. Sensitivity reaches 86.5 dB, one point above its smaller sibling.
Each speaker ships with a removable front grille and four damping cushions. On a stand, it puts its tweeter at ear height. Yamaha offers the SPS-800A, designed for this model and for the NS-600A.
