The tweeter is a 27 mm silk dome, the woofer a 130 mm (5 inch) Ruark NS+. The crossover splits the signal between the two at 1.9 kHz. The woofer handles the midrange and bass, the tweeter the treble, for a sensitivity of 86 dB at 2.83 V at 1 m.
The cabinet is a bass reflex tuned to 53 Hz, with a double-flared port. Its internal volume is 6.8 litres. The typical in-room response covers 45 Hz to 22 kHz, so the bass reaches below the 53 Hz tuning.
The Satin Charcoal finish is a lacquer, paired with walnut slats. The grille is a removable magnetic frame covered with an acoustically transparent Mottled Fabric. The Sabre-R is also available in Fused Walnut veneer, the other standard finish.
Two pairs of terminals accept single or bi-wire cabling. The nominal impedance is 6 ohms, with a minimum of 4.2 ohms. Ruark specifies an amplifier of 25 to 100 W. The speaker sits on a shelf or on a stand, and Ruark offers optional elastomer feet.
