The Wharfedale DIAMOND 12.1i is a 2-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker with a 5-inch bass driver and a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter. It covers 65 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The 25 mm dome is woven polyester, with a high-loss coating that softens the treble. A flat faceplate and a discreet waveguide improve off-axis dispersion. The crossover to the 5-inch (130 mm) bass driver is at 2.6 kHz.
The 130 mm cone is made of Klarity, a mica-filled polypropylene that is light and well damped. The low-damping surround and the aluminium ring on the magnet work together against distortion. Response runs from 65 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB), with 60 Hz at -6 dB.
The 8.2 L cabinet is tuned by a circular port, and a pair of terminals takes the cable. Sensitivity reaches 88 dB (2.83 V, 1 m); impedance is 8 Ω compatible, minimum 4.0 Ω. The recommended amplifier delivers 20 to 100 W.
The range includes semi-matt all-black, stone grey and classic walnut with a black baffle. The multilayer sandwich cabinet measures 312 × 180 mm on the front and weighs 6.8 kg. Its depth reaches 278 mm, terminals included.
