Single Uni-Q source

The 25 mm aluminium dome takes its place at the acoustic centre of the 125 mm midrange cone. Both ways leave from the same point, which spreads the sound uniformly through the room and loosens the constraint of the listening spot. The crossover cuts at 450 Hz and 2.1 kHz.

Metamaterial absorption

Behind the dome, a maze structure traps the sound the tweeter sends backwards. Its tuned channels absorb 99 % of it, where the usual treatments stop around 60 %. What used to come back and blur the midrange no longer reaches the cone.

One 165 mm bass driver

One aluminium cone of 165 mm loads a bass-reflex volume. The short port goes down to 40 Hz, the long port to 37 Hz at -6 dB, and the typical in-room response reaches 30 Hz — unusual for a cabinet 440 mm tall. Bandwidth runs from 45 Hz to 35 kHz at plus or minus 3 dB.

Sensitivity and load

85 dB for 2.83 V at one metre, into 4 ohms with a minimum of 3.2: the model calls for an amplifier of 50 to 200 W for 111 dB of maximum pressure. Its 18.2 kg over 440 x 205 x 422 mm betray the thickness of the cabinet. Assembly is done by hand at Maidstone, in Kent.
