Unlike many protractors, the Pro-Ject Align it DS3 traces the whole path of the tonearm, from the outer to the inner null point. The protractor stays fixed during alignment, so there is no need to rotate the platter between the two points. Beginners and experienced users alike gain in comfort.
Baerwald is an excellent all-rounder to start with. Löfgren B favours the middle area of the record and gives the lowest average distortion. Stevenson favours the start and the very end of a side, useful for long sides and classical music.
The protractor features curves for Pro-Ject 8.6, 9, 10 and 12 inch tonearms, i.e. pivot to spindle distances of 200, 212, 238 and 291.6 mm. It also suits tonearms from other brands with these distances. One tool covers overhang, azimuth and tangentiality.
The Align it DS3 is cut from 2 mm thick acrylic and made in Europe. It comes with detailed instructions and guidance on choosing the geometry that suits your listening habits. It suits all Pro-Ject turntables.
