Thirteen drivers per side

Each earpiece gathers one dynamic driver, four balanced armatures and eight electrostatics. The eight Sonion electrostatics take everything above 6 kHz and reach up to 50 kHz. A five-way crossover, electronic and acoustic, splits the signal.

Titanium shell of the FX17, polished finish

Titanium milled from solid

The shell is milled from a block of pure titanium, then hand-polished. The acoustic duct follows the S.Turbo path patented by FiiO. Damping vents of 0.2 millimetres work the rear cavity.

The cable's three interchangeable plugs

Three interchangeable plugs

The earpiece connects over MMCX and the cable takes three terminations: 3.5 mm, 4.4 mm balanced and USB-C. The last carries a decoding chip up to 384 kHz at 32-bit and an eight-band equaliser. The cable mixes gold, silver and copper strands.

The tips and case supplied with the FX17

Twenty-two pairs of tips

The package holds twenty-two pairs of tips, among them the HS18, SpinFit and HS20. The dynamic driver's diaphragm is a lithium-magnesium alloy with a density of 1.6 grams per cubic centimetre. The FX17 is Hi-Res Audio certified by JAS and CEA.
