The AVR-X1800H DAB lines up seven amplifiers built from discrete components. Each delivers 80 W into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and up to 145 W into 6 ohms with one channel driven. With its two subwoofer outputs, it can be wired as a classic 7.2 system or as 5.2.2 with height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Three of the six HDMI inputs accept 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz. For recent consoles, ALLM, VRR and QFT cut latency and stutter. The eARC output brings back Dolby Atmos from the TV apps, and HDR pictures pass in Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and Dynamic HDR.
The supplied microphone measures the speakers from 8 listening positions. Audyssey MultEQ XT then corrects each channel in frequency and time, and Dynamic EQ keeps the bass clear at low volume. The on-screen setup assistant guides the wiring step by step.
HEOS Built-in, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Bluetooth and TuneIn stream over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. FLAC, ALAC and WAV files reach 192 kHz/24-bit, DSD 5.6 MHz. Zone 2 sends a different source to a second room, and the tuner receives DAB+ and FM with RDS.
