The RX-500A lines up seven amplifier channels in a 7.2 layout. It delivers 75 W per channel into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, two channels driven, at 0.09 per cent distortion. With one channel driven, power rises to 145 W into 6 ohms.
Decoding covers Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1. Seven sound modes are on hand, among them Pure Direct and Night. Room correction tunes the system to the acoustics of the room.
Wi-Fi and the Ethernet port open Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect, Google Cast and AirPlay 2. The rear carries four HDMI 2.1 inputs and one output, passing 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 120 Hz. Seven speaker terminals and two subwoofer outputs complete the panel.
The remote control, the measurement microphone and its stand come with the unit. Bluetooth 5.3 handles multipoint and the Audio Connect app drives the system. The chassis measures 434 x 157 x 319 mm and weighs 8 kg.
