Four capsules, mounted at the tips of thin brass tubes, form a tetrahedron. This array captures the impulse response of every speaker and every subwoofer, then locates each of them in three dimensions.
For each speaker, azimuth and elevation are measured to within 2°, and distance to within 1 cm. The processor also receives frequency response, phase, group delay and absolute SPL level. Optimizer therefore corrects from the real position of the speakers.
Every Trinnov microphone is individually tested and measured at the factory. This measurement produces a compensation file specific to that unit. The response stays flat within ±0.1 dB from 20 Hz to 24 kHz.
Trinnov's Remapping requires this microphone: other measurement microphones do not provide the data it needs. This OPT-MIC3 version connects via a 3-pin XLR connector.
