Regulated low-noise linear power supply from FiiO for DACs and headphone amplifiers. 12 V or 15 V output, 0 to 3 A current, 50 W toroidal transformer.

A switch on the back of the PL50 sets the output voltage to 12 V or 15 V. The rated current ranges from 0 to 3 A. You can therefore power a FiiO DAC or headphone amplifier, such as the K11 or R9, with a single unit.
The PL50 shell is made of an aluminium and magnesium alloy. It shields the circuits from external interference. The three-digit display on the front shows the output voltage. The case measures about 19 x 11.4 x 6.2 cm and weighs 1.72 kg.
A 50 W toroidal transformer designed for the PL50 powers the circuit. Its core is made of Nippon Steel electrical steel and its windings are high-purity oxygen-free copper. The toroidal shape limits magnetic flux leakage.
The Shindengen 25 A / 600 V bridge rectifier, the TI regulator chip and the Nippon Chemi-Con and Rubycon capacitors form the basis of the circuit. You get ripple below 20 mV. A 1 A / 250 V fuse protects the input, which suits 100-120 V and 220-240 V mains.
