Brazilian walnut body

The S950 features a Brazilian walnut enclosure—Grado’s first use of this wood species. A dense wood with distinctive acoustic properties, it combines dimensional stability with a sound that is more neutral and enveloping than aluminum. Each enclosure features a unique natural grain pattern.

52 mm S2 Driver, 117 dB/mW

The S950 features the 52 mm S2 driver introduced with the HP100 SE: a composite paper cone, a rare-earth alloy magnetic circuit, and a lightweight copper-plated aluminum voice coil. The frequency response ranges from 3.5 Hz to 51.5 kHz. The drivers are factory-matched to within 0.4 dB.

Signature Headband, Gold Cable

The S950’s headband features 50% more padding than previous generations, stainless steel arms, and engraved aluminum alloy gimbals. The detachable Gold cable, with a 6.35 mm connector, is braided and lightweight. XLR and balanced 4.4 mm options are available separately.

Two sets of ear pads, 395 g

Weighing 395 g, the S950 remains lightweight despite its wooden housing and reinforced headband. It comes with two sets of ear pads—G and F—to adjust the sound signature. The 38 Ω impedance is compatible with most headphone amplifiers. Hand-assembled in Brooklyn, New York.
