A&ultima flagship

The SP4000T is the high-end player in Astell&Kern's A&ultima series, successor to the SP4000. Its chassis is stainless steel and it carries a 6-inch 2160 × 1080 touchscreen. It runs Android 15, with access to streaming services.

Four RAYTHEON JAN6418 tubes

The SP4000T carries four RAYTHEON JAN6418 vacuum tubes in a quad configuration, split into two pairs dedicated to the left and right channels. Those pairs work in a differential arrangement, which cancels common-mode noise. A five-stage anti-microphonic architecture isolates each tube from vibration.

Triple AMP and Quad DAC

Three amplification modes are offered: TUBE AMP, OP AMP and a HYBRID AMP mode adjustable over five steps. The tube mode is chosen between Triode, Ultra Linear and Pentode, and the plate current over three levels. Conversion rests on two AK4499EX backed by two AK4191EQ modulators, on separate digital and analogue circuits.

Outputs, storage and battery

The SP4000T offers a 3.5 mm unbalanced output at 4.2 Vrms, which doubles as an optical output, and a 4.4 mm balanced output at 8 Vrms. It carries 256 GB expandable by microSD up to 1.5 TB. Its 7,450 mAh battery delivers around 10 hours of listening and recharges in 5 hours. It measures 85.7 × 150 × 19.5 mm for 565 g.
