The C 399 uses HybridDigital nCore amplification inherited from NAD's Masters Series. It delivers 180 W per channel continuous into 8 and 4 ohms and up to 250 W per channel instantaneous power, with high stability into low-impedance loads. Two sets of speaker outputs let you connect a second pair of speakers.
An MM turntable connects directly to the phono stage, with accurate RIAA equalisation and low noise. A dedicated circuit filters out the infrasonic noise found on vinyl records without affecting the bass. Two pairs of line inputs pass through low-noise buffer stages, and two subwoofer outputs complete the preamp output.
The C 399 is the first NAD component built on the MDC2 architecture, whose two slots communicate in both directions with the amplifier. The optional MDC2 BluOS-D module adds BluOS multi-room streaming over Wi-Fi or Ethernet, with AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect. It also brings Dirac Live room correction, applied to every connected source.
The digital section is built around a 32-bit/384 kHz ESS Sabre 9028 DAC, also taken from the Masters Series, with near-zero clock jitter. Two optical inputs, two coaxial inputs and aptX HD Bluetooth take the digital sources. The HDMI eARC input brings in the TV sound and lets the TV remote control the volume, while the dedicated headphone amplifier also drives high-impedance studio headphones.
