Power and Control

The A-S701 delivers 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms at 0.019 per cent distortion. Maximum power reaches 160 watts per channel into 4 ohms and dynamic power rises to 290 watts into 2 ohms. A damping factor of 240 keeps the bass under control.

ToP-ART Construction

The ToP-ART layout places the circuits symmetrically on either side of the chassis, with left and right signal paths of equal length. The rigid ART base limits vibration from the transformer and the capacitors. The unit weighs 11,2 kilos.

Pure Direct and Tone

Pure Direct bypasses the tone, balance and loudness controls to shorten the signal path. Bass and treble controls remain available outside that mode. A switchable CD Direct Amplification mode ties the CD input straight to the power stage.

Components and Connections

Eight analogue inputs and two recording outputs cover the sources of a system. One optical and one coaxial input take digital sources, and a subwoofer output completes the panel. Standby draws 0.5 watt.
