The Model 10 uses a fully balanced dual-mono topology, from the HDAM High Grade preamplifier through to the power stages. It delivers 250 W per channel into 8 ohms and 500 W into 4 ohms, from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 0.05% distortion, into speakers of 4 to 16 ohms. Marantz describes it as its most powerful integrated amplifier. It was designed and tuned in Shirakawa, Japan.
Each channel has its own Marantz switch-mode power supply, and the power stages run in switching mode with a BTL configuration. The preamplifier gets a toroidal transformer housed in a shielded enclosure. The triple-layer copper-plated chassis and extruded aluminium heatsinks carry the whole assembly, which weighs 33.7 kg.
The phono input uses the Marantz Musical Premium EQ, with three selectable MC impedances: 33, 100 or 390 ohms. Two balanced XLR inputs, four RCA inputs including phono, a REC output, a Power Amp Direct input and RCA and XLR pre-outs complete the connections. Signal-to-noise reaches 122 dB on CD and 88 dB on MM phono, with a response from 5 Hz to 60 kHz.
The Marantz porthole houses a high-definition colour TFT display showing volume, source and a digital level meter. The machined anodised aluminium front, dimmable front lighting and interior lighting that reveals the circuits mark out the 10 Series. The headphone output, built on an HDAM-SA2 stage with a Diamond buffer, delivers 130 mW into 32 ohms. Two finishes are available, Black and Marantz Champagne.
