The C-5000 carries the signal balanced from input to output. Total harmonic distortion plus noise stays at 0.010 per cent from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Frequency response holds within plus 0 to minus 3 dB between 10 Hz and 100 kHz.
The chassis holds a dedicated phono stage with RIAA equalisation within plus or minus 0.5 dB for moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. A subsonic filter cuts at 15 Hz. The unit draws 60 watts in use and 0.2 watt in standby.
Signal-to-noise ratio reaches 110 dB or more, measured to the JEITA standard. Channel separation holds at the same level at 1 kHz and at 10 kHz. Residual noise is limited to 3 microvolts on the balanced and unbalanced outputs.
The rear panel carries six RCA inputs and four balanced XLR inputs. Three RCA outputs, one balanced output and a trigger output complete the set. A headphone jack delivers 35 milliwatts per channel into 32 ohms.
