The NAIT 50 marks Naim's 50th anniversary by revisiting the NAIT 1, released in 1983. It is produced in a limited edition of 1973 units and made in England. The front panel brings back the chrome-bumper frame from the Naim archives, on an extruded aluminium case.
The linear class AB power stage delivers 25 W per channel into 8 Ω, 40 W into 4 Ω and 60 W into 2 Ω, with peaks of 225 W. Distortion is 0.015% at two thirds of full power. The amplifier pairs with any type of loudspeaker.
The discrete-transistor MM phono stage accepts 5 mV cartridges, at 47 kΩ and 100 pF. Two 5-pin DIN inputs, Stream and Aux, take a network player and another line source. The three sources are chosen with latching buttons that drive relays.
The 6.35 mm headphone jack relies on a discrete-transistor amplifier close to the one in the New Classic series, with 1.5 W into 16 Ω. In standby, consumption falls below 0.5 W and the unit switches itself off after 17 minutes, a function that can be disabled. The case measures 20.7 × 32.1 × 8.7 cm and weighs 4.5 kg.
