The 230HAD is a headphone amplifier, a DAC and a preamplifier in one compact unit. The possibilities are wide open.

The 230HAD takes over the design of the brand's reference headphone amplifier, the 430HA. Its amplification circuit is purely analogue and rests on a transconductance topology. It also serves as a preamplifier for a second system.
The built-in converter is fully asynchronous and decodes DSD256 as well as 32-bit PCM. It accepts four digital inputs: two S/PDIF, one TosLink and one USB. Native DSD and PCM up to 384 kHz go through the USB link, the other inputs reaching 192 kHz at 24 bits.
An RCA input at the back and a front mini-jack complete the digital section. The headphone output uses a 6.35 mm jack. Two RCA outputs, one fixed and one variable, can feed an amplifier or active speakers.
The oversized power supply combines a toroidal transformer with eight stages of DC regulation. The unit is hand-assembled in Canada. It is covered by a ten-year warranty.
