The CI 980 delivers eight channels of amplification from a single chassis, arranged in four stereo zones. Each channel provides 50 W into 8 ohms and 60 W into 4 ohms, and two bridged channels give 120 W into 8 ohms. One unit is therefore enough to cover several rooms in a home or a small shop.
At the back, line inputs take the signal from a preamplifier, an audio matrix or a control system. Each channel can be assigned freely, for zones of different sizes or speaker types. Speakers connect to Phoenix terminal blocks, and the detachable power cable makes servicing easier.
The CI 980 relies on simple, stable amplification designed to run continuously without complex settings. It switches on as soon as it detects a signal and returns to standby after 10 minutes of silence, where it draws less than 0.5 W. Its universal power supply even suits marine or avionics installations.
The 2U-high chassis fits into a 19-inch rack with its mounting ears. On the front, one indicator per zone shows the protection status and amplifier clipping. Distortion stays below 0.03 % and the signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 86 dBA referenced to 1 W.
