The GO link 2 Max plugs into a phone, a laptop or a PC over USB-C and turns it into a hi-res audio source. It weighs just 11.5 g for 143 mm in length and plays PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD256. Volume is set with physical buttons, in hardware, without reducing the data sent to the DACs.
Each channel has its own ESS Sabre DAC chip, for clean separation and a precise soundstage. Quad DAC+ and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator technologies work with iFi's GMT clock and its crystal oscillator. DRE adds 6 dB of dynamic range, and distortion compensation cuts THD by more than half compared with the GO link Max.
The cable linking the USB-C plug to the unit is silver-plated copper, each conductor in polymer insulation, laid as a twisted pair. This construction lowers the cable's inductance and capacitance. It also rejects interference from nearby electrical devices.
The 4.4 mm balanced output delivers at least 241 mW into 32 ohms and 4 V into 300 ohms, the 3.5 mm S-Balanced output 100 mW into 32 ohms while halving crosstalk. On Android, the iFi Nexis app offers two digital filters, hybrid and linear, volume limiting and over-the-air updates. Distortion drops to 0.0007 % from the balanced output.
