Born from eighteen months of work with JVCKENWOOD, K2HD processing gives digital recordings back the natural harmonics they lack. It extends overtones beyond 22 kHz to bring playback closer to the original master. Kensei, Japanese for sword saint, marks the most refined version of the GO bar.
Four digital filters shape the sound: a filter-free bit-exact setting for natural tone, GTO for vocal density, Minimum Phase for a warmer colour and Standard for controlled highs. XBass+ reinforces the low end and XSpace widens the soundstage, both in the analogue domain. Simply plug the Kensei into a phone, a tablet or a MacBook over USB-C.
The Japanese stainless steel case gives maximum rigidity in the size of a USB stick: 65 x 22 x 13.2 mm and 65.5 g. It slips into a pocket or a bag and goes everywhere. Despite its size it supplies up to 477 mW into 32 ohms, and Turbo mode adds 6 dB of gain for demanding headphones.
A 16-core XMOS chip programmed by iFi drives a 32-bit Cirrus Logic DAC, clocked by the GMT precision clock to fight jitter. The Kensei plays PCM up to 384 kHz, native DSD256 and DXD, and fully decodes MQA. It offers a 4.4 mm balanced output and a 3.5 mm S-Balanced output that halves crosstalk and noise with standard headphones, plus iEMatch for sensitive IEMs.
