Two digital inputs sit side by side, one optical and one coaxial, with a selector choosing the source. The converter accepts rates from 32 to 192 kHz at 24-bit. It meets the IEC 60958, S/PDIF, EIAJ CP1201 and AES3 standards.
An RCA pair and a 3.5 mm socket send the converted signal to an amplifier or an active speaker. Output level exceeds 0 dB and output impedance settles at 526 ohms. Signal-to-noise exceeds 95 dB for distortion under 0.008 %.
A LOCKED indicator shows the lock on the incoming stream. If the source sends anything other than PCM, the indicator stays dark and the output is muted. That stops an undecoded stream reaching the speakers.
The shell is milled from a block of aluminium and measures 61.6 x 49.1 x 21 millimetres at 50 grams. The optical receiver is dust-protected and the coaxial connector is gold-plated. Power comes from a USB port at 5 volts.
