A small DC offset on the mains saturates transformer cores, which then vibrate and hum. The electronics cancel that offset by rebalancing the sine wave on the neutral line. This version takes an IEC C20 inlet, the one used on 16 A installations, which sets it apart from the 10 A version and its C14 inlet.
