The Riga 2 sets a 17 cm BC17 coaxial driver in a sphere half the size of that of the Baltic, its older sibling. A single driver covers 95 to 20,000 Hz, with an internal crossover at 1,600 Hz. Sensitivity reaches 90 dB for 1 W at 1 m.
Cabasse calls the coaxial principle SCS: treble and mid-bass radiate from the same point across the whole band. According to the brand, it ensures linearity, faithful timbre and a stable soundstage.
The brushed aluminium base holds the sphere at 22.4 cm high, for a depth of 21 cm and 5.5 kg. Cabasse intends this version for a shelf or for the centre channel of a home cinema system. At the back, a port and two binding posts take the speaker cable.
The Riga 2 comes out of the Cabasse workshops in Brittany, in two matt finishes, Perle Noire and Perle Blanche. Its nominal impedance is 8 ohms, with a minimum of 4.1 ohms. It takes 150 W rated and 1,000 W peak.
