OPTICON 8 MK2, three-quarter view, Tobacco Oak finish

The Only Three-Way in the Series

The OPTICON 8 MK2 is the only model in the series to give the midrange a dedicated driver, a 6.5-inch unit in a closed box, separate from the two 8-inch woofers. The crossover acts at 380, 2200 and 14000 Hz, three ways plus a half.

Thirty-Eight Hertz

The two 8-inch woofers and the 29.5 Hz bass reflex tuning bring response down to 38 Hz at plus or minus 3 dB. Maximum output is 112 dB at one metre and power handling runs from 40 to 300 W into 4 ohms.

Back of the OPTICON 8 MK2, ports and terminals

Hybrid Treble, Dome and Ribbon

The 29 mm soft dome and the 17 x 45 mm ribbon share the top of the band on a cast aluminium faceplate. The ribbon takes over from 10 kHz upwards and carries response to 30 kHz.

Thirty-Four Kilos

The cabinet measures 1141 x 241 x 450 mm and weighs 34 kg. DALI advises 30 to 150 cm from the rear wall, which calls for a fairly large room. The terminal takes bi-wiring and bi-amping.
