The Wharfedale DIAMOND 12.4i is a 2.5-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker with two 6.5-inch drivers and a 25 mm fabric dome tweeter. It covers 40 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
A 25 mm fabric dome tweeter sits above two 6.5-inch (150 mm) drivers. The crossover between the ways is at 2.1 kHz. Response covers 40 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB) and reaches down to 35 Hz at -6 dB.
Klarity blends polypropylene and mica, so the cone stays stiff, light and well damped. A low-damping surround supports efficiency, and an aluminium ring on the magnet limits inductance variations. The voice coil is wound on an epoxy and fibreglass former, chosen for its power handling.
The 40.8 L cabinet vents air through a port at the back. Wharfedale reshaped the port and the internal damping, after measurements in an anechoic chamber and in a room, and an airflow simulation. Sensitivity reaches 89 dB (2.83 V, 1 m), for an amplifier rated 30 to 200 W.
The multilayer sandwich walls are braced by calculated supports that link two faces without passing vibrations between them. The speaker stands 1,150 mm high with its feet, 200 mm wide, and weighs 22.4 kg. It comes in all-black, stone grey or classic walnut with a black baffle.
