The Wharfedale EVO 5.4 is a three-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker with two 6.5 inch woofers, a 2 inch midrange and an AMT tweeter. It covers 42 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB) and is sold individually.
The EVO 5.4 divides the spectrum between two 6.5 inch (165 mm) woofers with black woven Kevlar cones, a 2 inch (50 mm) soft-dome midrange and a 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter. The crossover points are 1.1 kHz and 4 kHz. Stated response runs from 42 Hz to 24 kHz (±3 dB), with bass extension down to 36 Hz at -6 dB. The floorstanding speaker comes in black, white, grey and walnut.
The bass-reflex cabinet offers 59.5 litres of internal volume, a volume Wharfedale has increased across the whole EVO 5 range. A three-way SLPP slot port releases the bass air through the base and limits turbulence. A hybrid plinth, combining metal and wood, strengthens the structure and reduces vibration.
The 35 × 70 mm AMT tweeter replaces the usual dome with a pleated diaphragm placed in a magnetic field. An absorbing material, Silentweave, lines the cavity behind the diaphragm, and an elastomer frame, ResoFrame, damps each driver. The tweeter takes over from 4 kHz.
Nominal impedance is 4 Ω, compatible with 8 Ω, with a minimum of 4.3 Ω. Sensitivity reaches 90 dB (2.83 V, 1 m) and peak level 108 dB. You drive it with a 30 to 200 W amplifier. Spike mounts are supplied with the speaker.
