The column is a leaning black blade on a 40 cm wide white oval base. The two parts read against each other: black holds the vertical, white sets the footing on the floor. Assembled, the whole thing weighs 19 kg, most of it in the base.
Seen from behind, the blade rises in one piece from the base to the sphere, with no visible bracket or strut. The back of the sphere carries a circular port, offset below the mounting point. The three-way TCA coaxial driver covers 75 to 25,000 Hz, with internal crossovers at 740 and 3,500 Hz.
The two terminals sit in the base, at floor level, rather than at the back of the sphere: the cable leaves under the stand instead of crossing the room at eye height. The speaker is rated 8 ohms nominal and 3.2 ohms minimum; what counts is the amplifier's ability to hold the load, more than its quoted power.
On its column the Baltic 5 stands 128 cm tall, 40 cm wide and 42.4 cm deep. That height brings the coaxial to the ear of a seated listener, something a shelf gives only by chance of where it sits. Cabasse quotes 91 dB for 1 W at 1 m: sensitivity stays high for a satellite of this size.
