3-Way Dedicated Architecture

The R35 employs a dedicated 3-way design with crossover points at 350 Hz and 2.1 kHz — a configuration that frees each transducer from reproducing ranges where it is not optimized. The 130 mm MCC midrange reproduces only 350 Hz–2.1 kHz, the frequency band where the human voice, piano, and most stringed instruments concentrate their essential tonal information. This separation is what distinguishes the R35 from a 2-way speaker that would force a single woofer to cover both deep bass and critical midrange.

3 × 130 mm MCC Woofers

The three 130 mm Micro Ceramic Composite woofers operate in common load via two tuned rear ports, lowering the resonant frequency and allowing extension down to 36 Hz (±6 dB). The combined membrane area of three woofers generates the air volume needed for bass without forcing each unit beyond its linear excursion — where distortion would increase. Molded aluminum baskets with patented geometry ensure thermal stability under up to 225 W per channel.

Compact Format for a Floorstander

With a footprint of 302 × 353 mm for a height of 1 038 mm, the R35 fits spaces where a large floorstander would be out of proportion. Massive aluminum feet with optional spikes decouple the cabinet from the floor and allow precise toe-in adjustment on any surface. Internal bracing and the natural black walnut finish give the cabinet the rigidity and appearance of fine furniture rather than mere equipment.

25 mm DCC Tweeter, 87 dB

The 25 mm Deep Ceramic Composite dome tweeter is mounted in the same Acoustic Lens waveguide found across the Radia range, ensuring tonal consistency and dispersion continuity in a multi-channel system mixing R35 and R35C models. At 87 dB sensitivity, the R35 pairs well with built-in amplifiers from as low as 30 W without dynamic shortfall. The ARCAM SA35 is the recommended partner by the brand, with automatic activation of the model-specific AEQ (Anechoic EQ).
