The tweeter radiates as much backwards as forwards. Behind it, a metamaterial disc pierced with channels of differing lengths traps that rear wave and dissipates it as heat: 99% of the high-frequency energy never returns to the cone. What is left is the signal.
Four 165 mm cones for the bass alone: the R11 Meta sits at the top of the R Series. The curve reaches down to 30 Hz at −6 dB, three hertz below the R7, and maximum output reaches 113 dB. The crossovers fall at 330 Hz and 2.5 kHz.
90 dB of sensitivity, the highest figure in the R Series. KEF recommends an amplifier of 15 to 300 W. That efficiency changes what can be placed in front of it: a modest integrated amplifier holds the R11 without straining.
1296 mm tall for 36.5 kg: the R11 Meta takes two people to move and calls for a room where 113 dB mean something. Impedance falls to 3.2 Ω at minimum, so it needs an amplifier that holds the load. Three finishes: gloss black, gloss white, walnut.
