The Blade One Meta arranges its four bass drivers in symmetrical pairs around a Uni-Q array, which puts the midrange and treble on the same acoustic centre. Every frequency therefore seems to leave from one point, as from an ideal point source. You get a sharp stereo image over a wider listening area, not just in the central seat.
At the heart of the Uni-Q, a 25 mm reinforced aluminium dome handles the treble, surrounded by a 125 mm aluminium midrange cone. Behind the tweeter, Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), a maze of channels each tuned to one frequency, absorbs 99 % of the unwanted rear wave. A copper ring set into the midrange motor lowers inductance and cuts distortion.
The four 225 mm aluminium cones work back to back, so their forces cancel and the cabinet stays steady as you turn up the volume. Each pair sits in its own chamber, which limits interference and the need for damping. Response runs from 35 Hz to 35 kHz within ±3 dB and reaches 20 Hz in the room, with crossovers at 350 Hz and 2 kHz.
KEF builds the Blade by hand at its Maidstone factory in Kent, where the company has made its speakers since 1961. The ultra-high-density polyurethane composite cabinet tapers from top to bottom and from front to back to break up standing waves. At 159 cm and 57.2 kg, with two pairs of WBT terminals for bi-wiring, it calls for 50 to 400 W of amplification.
