The SACD 30n plays SACDs, audio CDs and CD-R/RW discs, as well as burned MP3 and WMA files. It also accepts data discs with DSD, WAV or ALAC files. On SACD, Marantz quotes a 112 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 109 dB of dynamic range.
Digital-to-analogue conversion is handled by the Marantz Musical Mastering circuit, with its MMM-Stream processing and selectable digital filters. The HDAM module sits on its own independent circuit board, and an HDAM-SA3 buffer drives the analogue output. A jitter reducer and a toroidal transformer complete the audio stage.
The HEOS platform opens up Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Amazon Music, Pandora and TuneIn radio, and AirPlay 2 streams from an Apple device. The player connects over dual-band 2.4 / 5 GHz Wi-Fi, Ethernet or Bluetooth, and responds to voice commands through Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri. Roon Tested certified, it streams up to DSD 5.6.
The USB-B input turns the SACD 30n into an isolated asynchronous DAC for a computer, up to DSD 11.2. Two coaxial inputs and one optical input take other sources up to 192 kHz / 24-bit, and a variable RCA output sits alongside the fixed one. RS-232C and IR flasher sockets plus IP control open the unit to home automation systems, in a casing 44.3 cm wide, 42.4 cm deep and 13 cm high, weighing 13.5 kg, in Black or Silver Gold.
