The CD Box E brings a CD player to Pro-Ject's entry line. It shares the brushed, anodised aluminium front panel of the S, DS and RS players, on a rigid sheet-metal chassis. This aluminium and metal combination pays tribute to the original CD Box.
Inside, a true Red Book CD drive sits on a shock-proof mounting and loads discs through a slot. Its low-jitter 24-bit/192 kHz multi-bit delta-sigma DAC delivers bit-accurate CD playback. Pro-Ject points out that a dedicated CD player often plays stereo CDs better than a DVD or Blu-ray player.
A very low output impedance buffer reduces the influence of interconnect cables. The analogue RCA output delivers 1.8 Vrms, with distortion of 0.04% at 1 kHz. A coaxial S/PDIF output lets an external DAC handle the conversion.
The CD Box E measures 20.6 cm wide, 5.5 cm high and 15.3 cm deep, and weighs 1.43 kg. It comes in black or silver, with aluminium buttons. The remote control is included.
