The 9000CDT plays discs and files held on a USB hard drive. No internal converter intervenes: the signal leaves in digital form. Measured distortion stays below 0.002%.

The transport mechanism is isolated from the chassis to limit vibration. The colour screen carries the 9000 series graphics. Frequency response holds at −0.01 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

The USB port accepts MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV. FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 file systems are recognised. Files at 48 kHz are resampled to 44.1 kHz by the unit.
